In 2012, I challenged myself to create something new every day. The parameters? Use six words. As the year progressed, I ended up breaking the 6-word rule but the main point was to explore imagery, investigate form and texture, and, of course, play with type. You'll see a range of work. Much of it was influenced by what took place that day, everything from the weather to politics. Some of the results were stunning, some not so much. But that's what the creative process is all about.

1.18.2012_sketch with abandon
Teaching a conceptual thinking class today, I implored students to sketch with confidence. It takes courage to face that stark, blank paper daring you to come up with an idea. But the more confident you are, the more you'll be able to explore and reach new solutions. So sketch with abandon. Sketch with confidence. Sketch like your life depended on it.
